The Dryden boys lacrosse team picked up its first win under first-year head coach Colton Oliver Wednesday, beating Watkins Glen 16-4 at Watkins Glen High School. The Lions are now 1-1 this season.
Dryden allowed a goal in each quarter and opened up an 8-2 lead at halftime. The Lions scored six goals in the first quarter and five more in the third.
Brendan Williams and Luke Eshelman each went for five goals and an assist. Finnegan O’Brien, Brayden Wood, Kai Riggs, Graydon Haines, Wyatt Curtis and Oscar Brotherton all added a goal each.
Hunter Covington had his first breakout performance in the cage, stopping 19 of the 23 shots that went his way.
The junior goalie made five saves in each of the first three quarters.
Dryden will look to build off this effort at 5 p.m. Monday at home against Cortland.
