The first case of monkeypox has been identified in a Tompkins County resident, the Tompkins County Health Department announced Monday.

Cortland County saw three new cases of COVID-19, the state Health Department reported Tuesday, bringing the county to a total of 11,759 cases since the pandemic began. Tompkins and Cayuga counties reported 31 new cases, and one death the state reported Tuesday. The three counties have seen 52,763 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020. The number of people who have died from the virus has risen to 375.
