Tompkins offers booster clinic

The Tompkins County Health Department will have a COVID-19 vaccination clinic Wednesday featuring the latest bivalent booster at the department's office at 55 Brown Road, Ithaca, the department reported Monday.

The bivalent Moderna booster vaccination clinic will be available at the clinic from 2 to 7 p.m., for people 18 and older who received their last vaccine doese at least two months ago.

The latest bivalent booster targets newer variants of COVID-19 that are more transmissable, the department reports.

Booster doses are also available at pharmacies and healthcare provider offices.

"We recommend getting the updated booster for enhanced protection against the current strains of variants, as well as a flu shot," Tompkins County Public Health Director Frank Kruppa said. "We encourage everyone who is eligible and able to get vaccinated and stay up to date on their accinations. Vaccines continue to be safe and effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization and death.”

Cortland reports three new COVID cases
Cortland County reported three cases of COVID-19 on Monday, raising the number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began to 12,844, the state Health Department reports.

Tompkins and Cayuga counties reported 35 new cases Monday, the state reported. The three counties have seen 58,044 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020. The number of people who have died from the virus remain 398.

  • Three new COVID patients were admitted to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center on Friday, the state Health Department reported Monday. The hospital had four COVID patients. Since the pandemic began, 819 Cortland County residents have been hospitalized for COVID; that number was last updated Friday. The state Health Department reports 307,016 tests have been administered. The state has reported 131 deaths.

  •  Tompkins County saw 16 new cases Monday, the state Health Department reported. The number of confirmed cases rose to 25,541. The state reports 3,060,758 tests have been administered. Ninety-seven Tompkins residents have died.

  • Cayuga County saw 19 new cases Monday, the state Health Department reported. Confirmed cases rose to 19,669. The state reports 396,191 tests have been administered, and 170 people have died.
