Homer senior Logan Darling and Tully senior Braden Switzer placed 14th and 15th, respectively, in the boys weight throw Saturday at the NYSPHSAA Indoor Track & Field championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
Darling’s best throw was his first official one of the day, going 55 feet, 4.25 inches. Darling was seeded 19th of the 31 qualifiers before the event.
Switzer’s top throw was just behind Darling, coming in at 55 feet, 3.0 inches.
Dryden’s Carlea Davis competed in two events Saturday, the girls 55-meter hurdles and girls long jump. Davis came in 30th in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 13.21 seconds and was 31st in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 9.0 inches.
Dryden’s Nathan Turner also came in 27th in the boys 55-meter dash, finishing in 6.70 seconds. The boys 4x200-meter relay team of Chris West, Lucas Majgaard, Lucas Morrow and Turner came in 19th with a time of 1:34.90.
