Fatal crash in Solon under investigation

Cause of fatal Solon crash investigated

One person was killed and another injured Wednesday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash in Solon, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the vehicle, occupied by two people, lost control traveling north at 3:53 a.m. on Stillwell Road, according to police. The vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

One person died at the scene and the other was taken to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for treatment of injuries and was later released, according to a news release, which did not identify either person.

Assisting at the accident scene were the Cortland City Police Department, McGraw Fire Department, Solon Highway Department, Cortland County Highway Department, TLC Emergency Medical Services ambulance and the Cortland County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation was on-going late Wednesday afternoon and police asked anyone with information about the accident to contact the sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division at 607-758-6151.
