Cortland reports 5 new COVID cases

Cortland County reported five cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, raising the number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began to 12,899, the state Health Department reports.

Tompkins and Cayuga counties reported 23 new cases Tuesday, and one death, the state reported. The three counties have seen 58,279 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020. The number of people who have died from the virus has risen to 400.

  • Two new COVID patients were admitted to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center on Monday, the state Health Department reported Tuesday. The hospital had eight COVID patients. Since the pandemic began, 827 Cortland County residents have been hospitalized for COVID; that number was last updated Thursday. The state Health Department reports 308,088 tests have been administered. The state has reported 131 deaths.

  • Tompkins County saw 17 new cases Tuesday, and one death, the state Health Department reported. The number of confirmed cases rose to 25,666. The state reports 3,062,315 tests have been administered. Ninety-eight Tompkins residents have died.

  • Cayuga County saw six new cases Tuesday, the state Health Department reported. Confirmed cases rose to 19,714. The state reports 397,661 tests have been administered, and 171 people have died.
