Cortland County will offer vaccination clinics in rural parts of the county in coming days:
Legislature Chairman Paul Heider (R-Cuyler, Solon, Truxton), said residents should get a vaccine, if they can, and the county suggested businesses should continue to follow their COVID safety plans, which include cleaning and sanitation protocols.
Businesses can continue to require customers to wear masks.
“We are slowly turning the corner on COVID but we must not become complacent or forget that we can still see clusters of COVID,” Heider said. “Everyone needs to keep doing their part, and this includes washing frequently, staying home when you don’t feel well and getting vaccinated.”
The Tompkins County Health Department, Cayuga Health and school districts plan four COVID-19 vaccine clinics, two offering the Johnson and Johnson vaccine for adults and two offering the Pfizer for children 12 to 18.

Cortland County reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases rising to 4,548.
In all, 16 new cases were reported in Cortland, Tompkins and Cayuga counties, bringing to 15,096 the number of people who have contracted coronavirus since the pandemic began in March 2020.
No new deaths were reported, the number of people who have died from the virus remaining at 207.

The state Health Department has reported that 22,246 Cortland County residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, or 46.5% of the county’s total population and 55% of its adults. A total of 40.5% of the county has been fully vaccinated.
In Tompkins County, 67,499 people have received at least one dose, or 65.7% of the population and 73.5% of its adults; 58.5% are fully vaccinated.
Cayuga County has seen 36,479 people with at least one dose, or 47.3% of the population and 56.2% of its adults; 41.3% are fully vaccinated.
Statewide, 10.72 million people have received at least one dose, or 53.7% of the state’s population and 65.3% of its adults; 45.9% of the total population and 57.1% of adults are fully vaccinated.
