Guthrie to relax visitation policy starting Monday
Guthrie, the health-care group that runs Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, announced Friday it will relax its visitation policy starting Monday.
Masks must still be worn at all times, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status, the group said, and all patients and visitors — who must be over age 12 — must be screened for temperature and coronavirus symptoms.
Patients may have two visitors at a time from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Other rules:
• An obstetrics patient may be accompanied by two people, a visitor and a doula or two visitors.
• Pediatric patients may have two visitors.
• Surgical outpatients may have one visitor during intake and discharge.
• Emergency department patients may have one visitor.
• Extenuating circumstances will be evaluated case by case.
Do not visit if you have a temperature above 100 degrees, have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
Cortland County reports 2 new COVID cases
Cortland County reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, the number of confirmed cases rising to 4,584.
The number of people who have contracted the virus rose to 15,274 across Cortland, Tompkins and Cayuga counties since the pandemic began in March 2020.
No new deaths were reported, the number of people who have died from the virus remained 208.
• The Cortland County Health Department was monitoring 39 patients, 16 of them confirmed positive.
Three people are hospitalized. Since the pandemic began, 219 people have been hospitalized.
The Cortland County Health Department has received 126,005 negative test results.
The county has reported 64 deaths.
• Tompkins County reported one new cases Friday. The number of confirmed cases rising to 4,350, reports the state Health Department. A total of 2,391,761 people have been tested. Fiftytwo
Tompkins residents have died.
• In Cayuga County, the state Health Department reported no new cases Friday. Confirmed cases remained 6,338. The state reports 200,954 people have been tested. Ninetytwo people have died, the state reports.
129,937 get COVID vaccine in 3 counties
The state Health Department has reported that 23,066 Cortland County residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, or 48.2% of the county’s total population and 56.7% of its adults. A total of 44.4% of the county has been fully vaccinated.
In Tompkins County, 69,115 people have received at least one dose, or 67.2% of the population and 74.9% of its adults; 62.7% are fully vaccinated.
In Cayuga County, 37,756 residents have received at least one dose, or 48.9% of the total population and 57.9% of its adults; 44.7% are fully vaccinated.
Statewide, 11.26 million people have received at least one dose, or 58.5% of the state’s population and 70.6% of its adults; 51.4% of the total population and 62.6% of adults are fully vaccinated.
