Tristan Allen drove in eight runs and came a triple away from the cycle as Homer won 17-0 over Dryden in the first round of the Greg Partigianoni Tournament Thursday at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex in a game that was marred by an early injury to Dryden's Colton Dow.

Allen's highlight of the game was an inside-the-park grand slam in the second inning. He also had a two-run double and a two-run single. The junior first baseman also grounded out to the pitcher to lead off the game.

Dow was injured on the second play of the game. After reaching base on an error to lead off the game, the Dryden senior went to dive back to first base on a pickoff and broke both bones in his left forearm. Dryden head coach John Pascarella confirmed the diagnosis. Dow was taken off the field on a stretcher after a 30-minute delay.

Maddox Johnson tossed a one-hit shutout for Homer in the run-rule-shortened game, striking out seven batters in five innings. Johnson also singled and scored in the first inning.

The Trojans scored eight runs in the bottom of the first, four more in the second and five in the third. The game was called after the top of the fifth.

Tyler VanEtten went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Anderson Read was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two walks, Graydon Hickey finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Noah Young was 1-for-1 with an RBI and two walks, Max Franco drew four walks and scored three times and Mitchell Earle walked four times and scored once. Evan Sullivan also drew a walk.

Owen Strickland had Dryden's only hit, a second-inning single.
