United Way for Cortland
County seeks a dynamic
Executive Director who will
work with a dedicated
Board of Directors, staff
and volunteers to develop,
communicate and achieve
its mission of connecting
people and resources to
improve our communities.
Essential duties and
responsibilities include
leadership, strategic
planning, fundraising,
management,
resource development,
marketing/communications
and finance.
The successful candidate
will: maximize support
through fundraising and
community events, run
annual campaigns, work
with partner agencies to
ensure the integrity of
funded programs.
Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree,
preferred Masters Degree
in Public Administration or
related field
Experience Required:
A minimum of 3 years
experience in a leadership
and/or management role,
preferred experience
in non-profit, social or
human services
environment.
Demonstrated success in
fundraising, including
experience securing
individual, corporate,
and/or private foundation
support, preferred
experience in planned
giving, annual gifts and
major gifts.
Proven success in writing
and securing grant funding.
Working knowledge of the
Nonprofit Revitalization Act
and board governance.
Financial literacy including
formation of budgets,
Sound judgment and
decision making skills,
strong written and verbal
communication
skills including public
speaking.
Skilled in managing and
using computer software
programs and social
media.
Ability to prioritize and
multitask.
Preferred: Lives in
Cortland County. Previous
experience with United
Way as a volunteer, board
member or staff.
Salary: $60,000 - 75,000
