Truckers get free lunch Thursday in Preble

The Trucking Association of New York will distribute free lunches Thursday to drivers at rest stops in Preble and Clifton Park as part of National Driver Appreciation Week.

The week, which runs through Saturday marks the work of drivers, upon whom consumers and small businesses rely. Almost 90% of goods in New York are moved by truck, the association reports. Each year, more than 3.5 million American truckers drive more than 330 billion miles, about the same as 1,800 round trips to the sun.

Lunch will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the northbound Interstate 81 rest area in Preble and at the northbound Interstate 87 rest area in Clifton Park,t he association announced. The food was donated by Wegmans Food Markets and DeCrescente Distributing Co.
