Marathon sophomore Andy Edsall is the Cortland Standard’s September Athlete of the Month, sponsored by the Royal Auto Group.
Edsall is a standout cross country runner who has already established himself as a top runner in Marathon history. The sophomore placed second at the Oneonta Invitational, East Syracuse-Minoa Invitational and Baldwinsville Invitational and was fourth at the McQuaid Invitational.
Edsall was second out of 308 runners at Baldwinsville with a time of 16:31.6 and placed four out of 440 runners at McQuaid. He also became the second runner in Marathon history to clock a sub-16-minute race at McQuaid, one of the most prestigious cross country meets in the state.
Edsall’s sophomore season will continue with the IAC Championships at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Appleby Elementary School.
