The Cortland, Homer and Southern Hills football teams had their 2025 schedules finalized Thursday. All three teams will see some new opponents, with leagues being reshuffled.
Cortland is making a return back to sectional play, moving from the B-2 division to Class B West. The Purple Tigers went 7-11 overall and 4-6 in league play over the last two years as a B-2 competitor. They were 1-14 the two years prior to the formation of the B-2 division, which was intended for programs that needed to develop players with competitive games and programs that struggled with roster size.
Cortland will join Homer, Indian River, the Institute of Technology and South Jefferson in a new Class B West division. South Jefferson is also making the leap up from B-2, Westhill moved to the Class C West division to join Southern Hills and Chittenango moved to the Class B East Division to replace Carthage, which is moving back to Class A.

Cortland’s games against South Jefferson and Indian River are both Thursday games, a year after playing five times on Thursday and once on a Sunday.
Homer will look for its 22nd consecutive playoff appearance in 2025. The Trojans are coming off a 4-5 season that ended in a 57-8 loss at Carthage in the Section III Class B first round.

The home game against New Hartford is Homer’s only Thursday game of the season.
Southern Hills competes in Class C West for the second year in a row after returning from the C-2 division. The Storm went 2-7 in their first season back in sectional play following a C-2 championship run in 2023.
Class C West now includes Southern Hills, Bishop Ludden/Syracuse Academy of Science, Cazenovia, Marcellus, Skaneateles, Solvay and Westhill.

The Storm’s game at Marcellus is on a Thursday, while the Cazenovia game is a Saturday afternoon game.
