Marathon sophomore Andy Edsall won the boys Section IV Class D cross country championship Thursday at Chenango Valley State Park. Edsall cross the finish line with a time of 17:04.9, good for 13th among all boys competing.
Groton’s Ross Bush finished second in Class D after coming in with a time of 18:03. Westly Sturmer came in 32nd for the Red Hawk boys, Jacob Jandrokovic was 38th, Bryce Wilkinson came in 39th and Caleb Downing placed 53rd.
Blake Birdsall finished 24th and Michael Brickner was 50th for the Marathon boys behind Edsall.
Zackary Wood topped the Moravia boys’ finishers in the Class D race with a 54th place finish, while teammate Steven Brown came in 84th.
Moravia’s Olivia Genson topped the local girls finishers in the Class D race, placing third with a time of 21:19. Fellow Blue Devils Natalie Torok took 41st place.
Larina Cochran headed the Marathon girls’ effort with a 23rd place finish, Kimberlie Edwards crossed in 33rd, Hannah Prestigiaco came in 53rd and Abigail Kemak finished 59th.
Jade Brockner had the best finish among the Dryden boys and girls in the Class C race, coming in 13th place for the girls with a time of 24:00.6. Eliot Couch was the top Lions boys runner with a time of 19:13.8 that gave him 16th place.
Hannah Emmelhainz came in 30th, Josephine Jenkins was 36th, Alivia Wojcik placed 37th and Arabella Sanford finished 46th for the Dryden girls.
Oliver Bigsby followed up Couch with a 49th place finish, Oscar Brotherton came in 55th, Anthony Handsom was 63rd and Chris D’Angelo placed 67th.
