A Marathon man has been charged with drug possession — for the second time in about as many weeks — following a traffic stop in Homer, village police said Tuesday.

Casey L. Chorley, 34 was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence, felonies; and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanors, and no tail lights, a violation.

Police stopped Chorley’s vehicle about 9:40 p.m. Jan. 2 on South West Street for inadequate tail lights. Police said, they found Chorley’s license was suspended and in searching the vehicle, they found controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

Chorley was arraigned and sent to the Cortland County Jail pending a future appearance in Homer Town Court.

This is not Chorley’s first run-in with the law. Chorley was arrested Dec. 18 after a traffic stop in Homer where Cortland County sheriff’s officers said they found drugs in the vehicle. He was charged with a variety of misdemeanors, including seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also arrested following a June traffic stop in Cortland, again with a variety of misdemeanors, including seventh-degree possession.

He was charged Oct. 5 with third-degree possession following a traffic stop.
