Library book sale begins Oct. 12

ITHACA – The Friends of Tompkins County Public Library will have its annual Fall Book Sale over three long weekends at 509 Esty St., Ithaca: Oct. 12 to 14; Oct. 19 to 21 and Oct. 26 to 29.

The sale will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

First Day Purchase Limit: In order to serve as many book lovers as possible, on the first Saturday, Oct. 12, each shopper may purchase a maximum of 50 items at a time. They must leave after checking out, but may return.

Special shopping days:

•Older Adults (age 60 and up and anyone with a disability): 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 23.

•Students (age 16 and up with valid school ID): 4 to 8 p.m., Oct. 23.

•Dime Day (every item on the main floor is 10 cents): Oct. 28.

•Bag Day (Fill a standard reusable bag for just $1!): Oct. 29.

Proceeds fund the Friends of the Library’s annual grants that support Tompkins County Public Library and other Finger Lakes libraries, as well as local non-profit organizations for literacy and reading projects, and scholarships for library science students.

PFLAG meets Sunday

The PFLAG Ithaca-Cortland chapter will meet at 4 p.m. Sunday at 165 Main St., Cortland. The organization advocates for the LGBTQ community, and meetings can be attended virtually. Email info@pflagithacacortland.com to receive Zoom meeting access.

Eastern Star meets Monday

The Order of the Eastern Star, Cortland Chapter 591, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Masonic Temple on Route 13 in Cortlandville.

Attire for lady officers is short colored outfits and gentlemen officers dark suits. Elaine Reid will provide refreshments.
