A community feedback gathering Sept. 19 will gather ideas for the Little White Church project, said Ty Marshal, executive director of the Center for the Arts of Homer.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Homer Center for the Arts.
“We want to hear people’s ideas and thoughts, and discuss the name of the former Episcopal Church,” Marshal said. “What we’re going to do is present our beginning plans for the restoration, discuss programming ideas and anything else people want to bring to the table regarding the Little White Church.”

In late May, $1.17 million was awarded from the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant to go toward renovating the former Calvary Episcopal Church into a community center.
The building was erected in 1832 as the Calvary Episcopal Church, then the tallest building in the village. An addition, which served as a meeting space was built north of the church and connected to the church building in 1916. The Center for the Arts acquired it from the village for $2 in 2022 to preserve and restore it.
