Cincinnatus’ Allyson St. Germain is the Cortland Standard’s December Athlete of the Month, sponsored by the Royal Auto Group.
St. Germain is an offensive machine for the Cincinnatus girls volleyball team, with 688 kills in her career. The senior started her season with 49 kills in four December outings, while also racking up 17 digs in a match against Faith Heritage on Dec. 20 and nine aces overall.
St. Germain and her sister, Caitlyn, moved to Cincinnatus four years ago and gave Cincinnatus volleyball a “new passion,” according to head coach Becky Merihew. Allyson led the Lions to their first sectional title in over a decade last season and was named MVP of Section III winter volleyball.
St. Germain has been a captain the last two years, and Merihew described her as “a compassionate captain and takes her role very well. She listens to her teammates and leads by the example a captain should. Her composure on the court describes very well how strong a leader she is.”
Cincinnatus is unbeaten at 12-0 on the season and will likely be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Section III Class D tournament.
