Cortland Repertory Theatre’s 2025 summer season features a couple of Broadway classics, a couple of Hollywood classics adapted to the stage and at least one murder mystery with music.

The shows:
• “Hello Dolly” — June 4 to 16. The Broadway classic appears the for the first time on the CRT stage. Dolly Gallagher Levi is a matchmaker with a knack for meddling in matters of the heart. She decides to take her talents to new heights by pursuing wealthy “half-a-millionaire” Horace Vandergelder. It features some of theater history’s most iconic songs, including Before the Parade Passes By, Put On Your Sunday Clothes, and Hello Dolly.
• “The Odd Couple” — June 18 to 27. The comedy kicks off with a raucous poker game in the cluttered apartment of Oscar Madison, a carefree slob whose messy living space explains his recent divorce. Late to the game is Felix Ungar, a neurotic and obsessively tidy man dealing with his own separation. The two mismatched friends decide to bunk together, leading to a clash of personalities “There is scarcely a moment that is not hilarious,” writes The New York Times.
• “The Wedding Singer” — July 2 to 11. Rock star wannabe Robbie Hart, New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer, is the life of the party until his fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding a disaster until he meets Julia, a winsome waitress who relights that spark in Robbie’s life. But Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade
• “Murder for Two” — July 16 to 25. A co-production with Portland Stage Co. This comedy with music packs a murder mystery with laughs. Officer Marcus Moscowicz, an ambitious small-town cop, seizes the chance to solve the murder of famed novelist Arthur Whitney, who’s been shot at his own surprise birthday party. Moscowicz has just minutes to crack the case before the official detective arrives. Two actors play 13 roles and a piano.
• “The Little Mermaid” — July 30 to Aug. 15. Based on the Hans Christian Anderson story and the Disney film. Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton, dreams of living on land after rescuing the dashing Prince Eric from a shipwreck. In her quest to become part of his world, Ariel strikes a perilous deal with the sea witch Ursula, trading her tail for legs - but the consequences of this bargain are far from simple.
