Cortland County added 700 jobs in 2024, spanning a number of industries, show state data released this week.
The county now how 19,500 jobs, the state Department of Labor reported, with increases in leisure, manufacturing, finance, government and construction.
Leisure added the most jobs between December 2023 and December 2024, 400, rising to 3,400. Manufacturing added 200 jobs to come to 2,200. Construction, finance and government each added 100 jobs, rising to 400, 800 and 5,500 jobs respectively.
The only industry to contract was private education and health, which lost 100 jobs, year over year, falling to 2,400, state data show.
The state added 126,400 jobs, year over year, rising to 9.96 million. Regionally, metropolitan Syracuse added 6,200 jobs, rising to 325,300. Metropolitan Binghamton added 1,100 jobs, rising to 102,000. Metropolitan Ithaca lost 1,000 jobs, falling to 62,900.
Cayuga County added 400 jobs in 2024, rising to 25,400. Chenango County was stable at 17,600 jobs.
