Cortland reports two new cases

Cortland County reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday and Sunday, the number of confirmed cases rising to 4,586

The number of people who have contracted the virus rose to 15,274 across Cortland, Tompkins and Cayuga counties since the pandemic began in March 2020. No new deaths were reported, the number of people who have died from the virus remained 208.

• The Cortland County Health Department was monitoring 26 patients, 11 of them confirmed positive. Three people are hospitalized. Since the pandemic began, 219 people have been hospitalized. The Cortland County Health Department has received 126,251 negative test results. The county has reported 64 deaths.
• Tompkins County reported no new cases Saturday and Sunday. The number of confirmed cases remained 4,350, reports the state Health Department. A total of 2,392,589 people have been tested. Fifty-two Tompkins residents have died.
• In Cayuga County, the state Health Department reported no new cases Saturday or Sunday. Confirmed cases remained6,338. The state reports 201,649 people have been tested. Ninety-two people have died, the state reports.

Shots by county

The state Health Department has reported that 23,108 Cortland County residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, or 48.3% of the county’s total population and 56.8% of its adults. A total of 44.7% of the county has been fully vaccinated.

In Tompkins County, 69,252 people have received at least one dose, or 67.4% of the population and 75.1% of its adults; 62.9% are fully vaccinated. In Cayuga County, 37,871 residents have received at least one dose, or 49.1% of the total population and 58.1% of its adults; 45.1% are fully vaccinated.

Statewide, 11.31 million people have received at least one dose, or 58.8% of the state’s population

and 70.9% of its adults.
