Cayuga Health of Ithaca has affiliated with Arnot Health in Chemung County, creating a new health organization called Centralus Health.

The goal of coming together is to improve healthcare delivery across the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes and Central New York Regions, said Centralus Health officials in a release on Tuesday.

“Together, we are strengthening our ability to offer a wider array of services, reach underserved populations, and invest in the future of healthcare delivery — locally,” said Dr. Martin Stallone, CEO of Cayuga Health and now the CEO of Centralus Health.

A potential collaboration between the two facilities was first announced in April 2023. Both organizations say they gathered comment from patients, staff and the community.

“As health systems face increasing financial and workforce challenges, this partnership enables us to leverage shared resources, increase efficiencies, and ultimately lower operational costs,” said Jonathan Lawrence, CEO of Arnot Health and now executive vice president of Centralus Health.

Stallone said the organization plans increased access to primary care in Chemung and Tompkins counties. The new organization also will roll out EPIC in March, an electronic health record system and patient portal system.

The new organization will have 6,500 employees and $1 billion in medical services each year.

It also expects each year:

•1,800 births.

•15,600 hospital visits.

•86,400 emergency room visits.

•847,000 outpatient appointments.
